Continuing our travelling adventure we have three new destinations inspiring custom one of a kind KPPPM colours. The past few days at Koigu we’ve had a mix of snow, sun, snow, sun. Just waiting for spring to come so that we can start on our garden.
Newfoundland:

For those of us who are “come-from-aways”, translation: people who are not from Newfoundland, here’s a quick guide to some common Newfoundland phrases. “Who knit ya?” Translation: Who’s your mother or parents? This one doesn’t need too much explanation, but try telling your mother that all she was doing for nine months was “knitting.”
“Stay where you're to 'til I comes where you're at.” Translation: Stay where you are until I get there. If you’re calling a Newfoundland friend after a screech-in and the accompanying celebrations, this is the way they might tell you to stay put until they come and rescue you. Of course, if you’ve had a few shots of screech, you might have a hard time figuring out what they mean.

For those of you interested in more information on Newfoundland culture, and knitting traditions, I recommend picking up the book Saltwater Mittens, by Christine LeGrow and Shirley Anne Scott, which promotes traditional knitting patterns of Newfoundland.

Santorini
This is on everyone’s bucket list! The spectacular views, the stepped towns hanging on the edge of the cliffs, and of course the sunsets. For a complete tour of the island It is recommended you rent a scooter to drive all the wining roads. A pleasant walk through all the tiny streets and pathways in the towns will lead you to great restaurants, views and churches. Of course, you may break out in singing, Mama Mia. This crisp colourway in stripe or speckle would lend beautifully to a lace work shawl. Something to wrap up in after the sun sets or to wrap around you on the beach.

Cape Town
Travelling south, we go to one of Kersti’s top bucket list location, Cape Town, South Africa. Aside from dreaming of the stunning beaches, highlights for visiting include the arts and culture and the food. Food often leads Kersti’s when choosing travel destinations, Cape Town has a world class restaurant scene, featuring dishes from many surrounding areas, most excitingly their local inspired cuisine. Theres no shortage of activities to do in the city, but some of the highlights that can’t be missed include visiting the Mandela memorial, visit the Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCCA) for stunning local art and you can’t forget to go for a hike to marvel over the views. Travelling to Cape Town might not be in our near future, but at least we can marvel the views from home in the following videos:
