Tourmaline - Collector Colour

The second installment in our gemstone collector series, TOURMALINE, is here this month!

The gem comes in a wide variety of colours and often has a rainbow of saturated hues within one rock. Tourmaline was highly collectable in the 1800s and was brought to Europe from all over Africa in large quantities by the East India Trading Company. Its colours are mainly due to Iron, Manganese and Magnesium, which each cause different colours respectively. Many varieties of Tourmaline are also magnetic!

This month’s collector colour is KPPPM fingering weight and features the rich amber colour of tourmaline with pops of olive and fuschia dyed using our “firework” technique.

We can’t wait to see what you make with it!
